The thrilling joyride of 2017, 'Baby Driver' is absolutely one of the best films of the year! Edgar Wright's newest work was a critical and financial success with a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. It provides an amazing experience with everything from the catchy soundtrack to the incredible action sequences.
Firstly, as I mentioned above, the music in this film was clearly an essential part of the fun. It was treated as much more than a background factor. They managed to put the music in the forefront and treated it as one of the key characters. Ansel Elgort helped the music come to life as he rocked along throughout the film. Every choice and every beat helped the wonderful flow of the flick. While much of the music was fast enough to maintain the film's pace, there were more than enough songs to fit everyone's respective taste in music.
Many of the performances in this movie were absolutely flawless. Elgort gave it his all as the impressive driver in every scene. He made the audience want to sing and dance along in every scene. Kevin Spacey also gave a great performance. As a seemingly complicated man, he kept his character fun and direct. He is absolutely one of the best in the industry and was breathtaking in the film. Jamie Foxx played the role he is best suited for; the guy that is just kind of crazy. With his many threats and insults, he was yet another fun part of the movie.
Edgar Wright put together a fantastic film. He is the man who had been behind movies like the Simon Pegg and Nick Frost trilogy, along with the notable 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.' His career should receive much more attention in the future as we anticipate what he will do next.
Easily one of my favorites of the year, 'Baby Driver' was fantastic. Anybody that hasn't yet seen this thrill ride should check it out as soon as possible.
